Substance Designer is a procedural management tool that allows you to manage your textures quickly, efficiently and intelligently.

Target clientele

This course is designed for professionals who want to incorporate Substance Painter and Designer into their texture creation process.

Prerequisites

- Mastery of UV unfolding
- Mastery of 3D modeling
- Knowledge of the 3D asset production pipeline
- Knowledge of color and composition is a plus
- Knowledge of PBR is a plus
- Zero level in Substance Designer and Painter tolerated, the goal is to learn it.

Detailed description

Substance Painter is a new 3D painting software with innovative workflow enhancing features. Substance Painter 3D is recognized as the most innovative and user-friendly texture software of its generation. It is a procedural management tool that allows you to manage your textures quickly, efficiently and intelligently.
The goal of the training is to learn how to master procedural and non-procedural material creation in Substance Designer and to bridge the gap between Substance Designer and Substance Painter. The course will also teach you how to texture in Substance Painter and how to output textures to a game engine.


Objectives


Upon completion of the training, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand the concepts of creating textures in nodal mode
  • Understand the interface of Substance Designer
  • Know the Substance Designer tools and basic functions
  • Create textures from a PSD
  • Create textures from a high resolution map
  • Create textures from procedural textures
  • Exposing parameters to modify them in the engines
  • Create textures that multiply
  • Create textures from several materials
  • Create textures with unique UVs

Each student will have remote access to an individual workstation and a zoom link sent a few days before the start of the course. He/she will have access to the didactic material and media content necessary for learning.
